Terrorist groups have begun actively using artificial intelligence technologies in their activities, Acting Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism of the United Nations Aleksandr Zuev said in an interview with TASS, APA reports.
According to him, the UN is cooperating with a number of partners in this field. Zuev noted that although artificial intelligence can be used for positive purposes, terrorist groups and radical movements can also use these technologies to create more favorable conditions for terrorist activities.
Zuev stressed that the widespread perception that the process of radicalization occurs only through religious extremists or religious institutions should be reconsidered.
He added that there is no universal solution to prevent people from being recruited by terrorist groups. According to him, since radicalization takes different forms, prevention programs should be developed in accordance with the specific characteristics of each country and region.
