It is not possible to resolve the conflict in Ukraine peacefully without Putin’s consent, said Steve Witkoff, special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, contacts with the Russian Federation are essential.
Witkoff noted that Trump insists on direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine “in the form of an ultimatum,” otherwise the United States will withdraw from the settlement process.
Trump’s special envoy listed Kyiv’s renunciation of territories, the use of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and Ukraine’s access to the Dnipro River and the Black Sea as the main topics of settlement talks.
“A lot of work has already been done to narrow the range of issues. Informal negotiations are being held with both Moscow and Kyiv,” Witkoff emphasized.
