Germany is delaying NATO arms procurement plans due to the slow pace of acquisition, APA reports citing Bild newspaper.
According to the publication, the types of military equipment purchased by Berlin are generally consistent with the Alliance's defense strategy in the event of a potential conflict. However, delivery times remain a major issue. Experts estimate that the German side is "behind schedule."
Furthermore, experts point to gaps in the Bundeswehr's (German Armed Forces) technical equipment. The newspaper notes that these shortcomings are particularly evident in mine countermeasures. Germany also lacks long-range, disposable strike drones. The publication emphasizes that one of the key stages of NATO defense planning relies precisely on the use of such kamikaze drones.
According to Bild, NATO's current strategy is heavily focused on US military support. If Washington refuses to provide assistance to its European allies, NATO's European members will have to radically revise their defense posture.
