Mixed performance was recorded in global stock markets on October 29, with most major US indices declining, European markets mostly gaining, and mixed results observed in the Asia-Pacific region, APA-Economics reports.

In the United States, the Dow Jones index fell by 132.54 points, or 0.25%, to 52,342.56 points. The S&P 500 index declined by 23.59 points, or 0.30%, to 7,720.39 points, while the Nasdaq Composite index dropped by 365.13 points, or 1.38%, to 26,184.72 points.

The NYSE Composite index rose by 1.05% to 24,517.22 points. Canada's S&P/TSX Composite index decreased by 0.04% to 36,249.03 points.

European stock markets showed mostly positive performance. The Euro Stoxx 50 index increased by 0.64% to 6,207.07 points, while the UK's FTSE 100 index rose by 0.26% to 10,722.07 points.

Germany's DAX index gained 1.31% to reach 26,039.68 points, while France's CAC 40 index climbed by 1.05% to 7,970.00 points. Spain's IBEX 35 index declined by 0.14% to 18,857.60 points.

Mixed performance was also recorded in the Asia-Pacific region. Japan's Nikkei 225 index fell by 1,494.52 points, or 2.31%, to 63,164.95 points, while the TOPIX index declined by 1.15% to 3,957.20 points.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose by 1.64% to 23,335.66 points. China's CSI 300 index declined by 0.38% to 4,026.47 points.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index increased by 0.15% to 8,905.40 points. The broader MSCI AC Asia Pacific index fell by 0.36% to 262.63 points.

The mixed performance in stock markets comes as investors assess the financial results of major technology companies and global economic risks. While selling pressure on technology stocks in the United States weighed on major indices, increased buying activity in Europe supported gains.
