Baku – APA. A cargo plane has crashed in the Des Plaines River south of the Chicago Executive Airport.

The pilot and co-pilot were killed in the accident, APA reported citing Press TV.

The bodies of the two men, who have yet to be identified, have been located in the debris field, said Glenview Fire Chief Wayne Globeberger at the crash scene.

The 10-seater two engine Learjet 35A, which had departed from the Oakland County International Airport, about 35 miles northwest of Detroit, crashed into the river about a mile south of the airport, said Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory.

The Lear 35, which has a range of about 2,000 miles and flies at some 520 mph, is one of the safest planes in the sky.
