Baku – APA. The Nigerian man accused of attempting to blow up a US plane has provided "usable intelligence" to FBI investigators, APA reports quoting the White House.

President Barack Obama’s spokesman said Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab had spent several hours with investigators since the 25 December airliner bomb attempt.

Fourteen countries have been singled out by the US for enhanced security.

Nigeria, Somalia and Yemen were among the 14 countries singled out by Washington for enhanced security measures for travellers, introduced on Monday.

Yemen-based al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula said last week it had trained and equipped Mr Abdulmutallab for the plane plot.

Yemeni authorities have tightened security measures at Sanaa’s airport, as well as around several other embassies.
