U.S. State Department denies plans to scrap missile defense system in Poland

Washington – APA. U.S. State Department denies reports published in the Polish newspapers that the United States will scrap the plans of missile system in the Central Europe, APA reports. U.S. State Department Spokesman P.J. Crowley said the government’s review of the missile defense strategy "is ongoing and has not reached completion yet." Director of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency Patrick O’Reilly also denied the reports of Polish newspapers. He supported the proposal to install SM-3 missile systems in Turkey and the Balkans. The United States announced its plans to install missile defense systems in Poland and Czech Republic in 2006. It signed an agreement with Czech Republic, but not yet with Poland.
