Authorities at the Sierra Leone's National COVID-19 Emergency Response Center (NaCOVERC) revealed Thursday that the country is currently battling with a third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, APA reports citing Xinhua.
NaCOVERC Spokesman Solomon Jamiru said 1,428 positive cases were registered in June, and about 26 percent of the infections across the country were recorded within a month.
Sierra Leone has reported 5,575 confirmed COVID-19 cases since it recorded its first COVID-19 case in March last year.
The country has so far recorded 100 COVID-19-related deaths, of which, 21 were registered in June alone, the spokesman added.
