Baku-APA. The Tunisian government declared an overnight curfew on Saturday after days of protests, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The country’s defence and interior ministries announced a curfew from 9 p.m. (2000 GMT) to 5 a.m. (0400 GMT) aiming at protecting civilians, said a statement quoted by the Tunisian official TAP news agency.

Protests broke out on Thursday after former interior minister Farhat Rajhi said that supporters of former president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali might seize power in a coup if Islamists won elections scheduled in July.
