Baku-APA. Another radio journalist has been killed in Uganda after being beaten into coma by iron-bar wielding thugs at the Nantabulirirwa village of the East African country, APA reports quoting Press TV.

Unidentified assailants attacked the 31-year-old Dickson Ssentongo at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT) on Wednesday as he was trying to catch a bus in Nantabulirirwa, 43 miles (70 kilometers) from the Kireka-based Prime Radio station. He died shortly after he was admitted to hospital.

"We are still investigating the incident. I think the thugs had trailed him and knew his movements," local police chief, Alphonse Musoni, told AFP on Thursday.

Ugandan Journalists Association said it was planning to hold a funeral service for Ssentongo on Friday.

Ssentongo routinely read the 7 a.m. news bulletins for Prime Radio station in the Luganda language. He was also running for a position in the Democratic Party, one of the leading opposition parties to the ruling National Resistance Movement.

The murder comes just three days after motorcyclists beat to death Paul Kiggundu, a correspondent of the Masaka-based Top Radio.
