We will have the opportunity to present Azerbaijan’s experience in urban planning and architecture to the international community at WUF13, said Gulshan Rzayeva, Deputy National Coordinator of WUF13 and Deputy Chief of Staff of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, during a media briefing on preparations for the WUF13 event, APA reports.
“Since 2022, there have been innovations in the field of urban planning in Azerbaijan. In particular, joint projects have been implemented with the UN, and this process is ongoing. Many initiatives have been put forward. There is a strategic link between the declaration of this year as the ‘Year of Urban Planning and Architecture’ in our country and the holding of WUF13 in Azerbaijan,” Gulshan Rzayeva said.
She emphasized that with the development of urbanization, cities are facing serious challenges.
“Although urbanization is a positive process, it also contributes to climate change. WUF13 will be dedicated to these issues. During the event, issues related to climate change that need to be addressed, as well as proposals and initiatives, will be put forward. Solutions to the housing crisis will be explored. According to UN research, 3 billion people worldwide face a shortage of adequate housing. WUF13 is very important for discussing safe and affordable housing. Within the framework of the conference, we will also have the opportunity to present Azerbaijan’s experience in this field,” the Deputy Chief of Staff noted.
