WUF13 Practices Hub to focus on practical housing solutions

WUF13 Practices Hub to focus on practical housing solutions
# 14 May 2026 18:12 (UTC +04:00)

The 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), to be held in Baku on May 17–22, will introduce a new space called the Practices Hub platform, designed to promote practical and solution-oriented discussions in the fields of housing and urban planning, the Operating Company told APA.

The platform, which focuses primarily on implementation and application issues, will bring together proven approaches, acquired experience, and opportunities for mutual learning.

Within the framework of the WUF13 theme “Housing for All: Safe and Resilient Cities and Human Settlements,” the Practices Hub will showcase positive transformations achieved through practical housing solutions. Alongside highlighting successful practices from different regions, the platform will contribute to turning knowledge into real action by directly connecting decision-makers and practitioners with implementation processes.

The platform is based on a large-scale global process under which a call for practical examples in housing provision had previously been announced, resulting in more than 200 submissions from countries around the world. Expert groups selected 171 examples from among these applications. These examples reflect various solutions involving different levels of governance and factors, including initiatives implemented by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and its partners. Covering a total of 84 countries, the selected examples include contributions from national and local governments, civil society, the private sector, foundations, and academic circles. Participants will be able to familiarize themselves with these initiatives through an interactive digital monitor and search for solutions tailored to specific needs.

Program and networking

The Practices Hub will host 11 interactive sessions, each bringing together organizations from different countries working on similar challenges. Organized in a 90-minute dialogue format, these sessions will demonstrate different approaches to the same issue while creating conditions for discussing successful experiences and solutions that can be adapted or expanded in different environments.

A dedicated networking area complementing the sessions will provide opportunities to establish direct contacts with practitioners, policymakers, and partners, exchange experiences, and identify cooperation opportunities. Together, these elements form a unified platform for participants to discover proven approaches, communicate with the people behind them, and benefit from real implementation experience.

Legacy of WUF13

The Practices Hub is not limited to a program operating solely within the framework of WUF13 and is intended as a long-term contribution to the global knowledge base in the field of housing. All practices will be accessible through a digital platform, where detailed information and case studies will be presented to support continuous learning and the exchange of experience.

The platform will be updated regularly, and over time its database will continue to expand. The main goal is to support the continuous implementation of the New Urban Agenda and accelerate the global application of effective housing solutions by sharing acquired experiences and encouraging the adaptation of successful approaches elsewhere.
