WUF13 information session for private sector held in Baku

An event titled “WUF13 – Information Session for the Private Sector” has been held at the Baku SME House, APA reports.

More than 120 entrepreneurs operating in industry, green energy, construction, waste management, transport, ICT, finance, and other sectors took part in the event organized as part of preparations for the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which will be held in Baku on May 17–22, 2026.

Anna Soave, Head of Country Programme at UN-Habitat Azerbaijan, emphasized the special role of private sector representatives at WUF13 and spoke about the opportunities that may arise for companies.

Adil Mammadov, Executive Director of the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company, stated that nearly 30,000 participants are expected to attend the event, including heads of state, municipal leaders, civil society representatives, private sector participants, academics, and other individuals: “During the six-day WUF13, nearly 400 conferences, roundtables, and meetings will be held. In addition, the Urban Expo exhibition will also be open, and representatives from 36 countries have already registered to participate,” he said.

At the event, Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA), and Sevil Yahyayeva, Advisor to the Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), also delivered speeches.

Overall, the main purpose of the session was to inform private sector representatives about WUF13 and the opportunities that this international platform creates for business.

During the session, held within the framework of the partnership between the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company, KOBIA, and AZPROMO, participants were provided with detailed information about the opportunities offered within WUF13, including the process of participating in the “Urban Expo” exhibition.

It should be noted that applications to participate in the “Urban Expo” exhibition are accepted online until March 31, 2026.
