The future of the Amazon is very important for everyone, Juan Pablo Bonilla, Manager of the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Sector at the Inter-American Development Bank, said during the event titled “Stories from the Frontlines: Advancing Urban Climate Legacy” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
He stated that the protection of the Amazon forests is one of the fundamental commitments.
At the same time, the manager noted that the Amazon forests are entering a very critical stage: “Illegal use of Amazon territories also creates certain problems. In the Caribbean, ensuring the sustainable living of the population is on the agenda. We have projects in eight Amazon countries. We need better technical support. We have made urbanization and mobility priorities. We must maintain the balance between cities and forests. Thus, the safety of cities is one of the main priorities.”
