“Preparations for WUF13 are currently being carried out actively," said Anna Soave, Head of the Country Office of the UN Human Settlements Programme, during a WUF13 training titled “The Role of Civil Society in Sustainable Urban Development” organized for NGOs, APA reports.
She noted that the experience of hosting such a prestigious event as COP29 in 2024 indicates that this process will be organized at a high level: “The declaration of 2026 as the ‘Year of Urban Development’ by President Ilham Aliyev once again demonstrates a serious approach to this field.
Within the framework of the event to be held from May 11 to 17, extensive exchanges of views will take place. We have already received proposals from Azerbaijani NGOs in 90 areas. At the global level, a total of 1,400 proposals have been submitted, and 350 of them will be selected. For proposals that are not selected, alternative participation opportunities and certain conditions are also available.”
