The United Nations is ready to support Azerbaijan, which will host the World Urban Forum in 2026, to ensure the successful organization of the event, said Igor Garafulic, the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, during his speech at the meeting of the High-Level Joint Steering Committee on the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, APA reports.
“WUF13 provides a unique opportunity to showcase Azerbaijan’s achievements in sustainable urban development, climate resilience, and inclusive growth, while also strengthening international partnerships and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals,” he said.
The UN representative noted that consultation workshops will be organized in Azerbaijan in April and May to learn how local government institutions approach the Sustainable Development Goals.
“At the same time, activities will be carried out to raise awareness at universities and to organize local dialogues. I would also like to note that all information related to the cooperation framework is now publicly available on the platform called ‘UN Info’. This ensures transparency and accessibility of information related to UN programs, particularly in terms of financing,” he said.
