A considerable number of heads of state are expected to participate in the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), to be held in Baku on May 17–22, 2026, Katerina Bezgachina, Communications Director of the UN-Habitat, told journalists, APA reports.
“This is a global forum, and all 193 UN member states have been invited. Many of these countries will participate at the level of ministers, deputy ministers, or city mayors,” she said.
Noting that WUF13 is a flagship event of UN-Habitat, the UN agency dealing with urbanization and human settlements, Bezgachina added that the event will provide an opportunity for Azerbaijan to share its experience.
“This event is an opportunity for Azerbaijan to share its experience and present the knowledge and expertise it has gained. Special pavilions will be organized for Azerbaijan at the Urban Expo exhibition. This will create an opportunity to present its programs, projects, and experience in urban development, city planning, and addressing housing issues. Forum participants will be able to familiarize themselves with these programs and projects. Those interested will be able to establish contacts and explore opportunities to apply this experience,” she added.
