The leadership demonstrated by the Azerbaijani government in the field of sustainable urban development is highly appreciated, Somalia’s Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction and Housing Ayyub Ismail Yusuf said during the panel discussion titled “Housing for Social Inclusion and Poverty Eradication” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
The minister particularly emphasized that the high-level meeting in Baku is an important platform for strengthening international cooperation and advancing dialogue on sustainable development.
According to him, Azerbaijan’s efforts in housing provision, urban development, and inclusive policy serve as an example for many countries.
He noted that housing is not only a social service, but also one of the key pillars of human dignity, social integration, and a secure future.
The minister added that amid climate change, urbanization, and social challenges, creating sustainable living spaces should become a shared goal for all states.
Stating that the Somali government has also declared new urban planning and housing policies a priority in the areas of reconstruction and sustainable development, the minister emphasized that efforts are continuing to improve living conditions for internally displaced persons and vulnerable communities.
At the end of his speech, the Somali minister called on participants to expand cooperation, stressing that international partnership plays a key role in building sustainable and safe cities.
