Well-planned settlements can reduce tensions, restore trust and reconnect citizens with opportunities. In many ways, housing has become the visible architecture of hope, Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya, Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, said this during his speech at the special session titled “Housing at the Center of Global Coalitions” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

“We have seen in different parts of the world what determined cooperation can make possible. We have witnessed this in Rwanda, Kenya, as well as in Azerbaijan and other countries.

These experiences remind us that although contexts differ, the principle is universal. Sustainable housing is formed when political will is combined with cooperation, innovation and shared responsibility. In this regard, the work of the Open-Ended Working Group on ‘City Housing for All’ is of particular importance. This Working Group creates a platform where different experiences meet practical action. This has enabled member states, local authorities, experts and stakeholders to share experiences, identify workable approaches and strengthen the implementation of housing commitments within the framework of the Global Housing Agenda,” the ambassador noted.

It was stated during the speech that governments cannot succeed without local authorities, while international organizations cannot succeed without the participation of communities. For this reason, the importance of establishing inclusive, sustainable and practical partnerships in urban development and housing policy was emphasized.
