“International organizations such as the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) are carrying out important work toward systematizing processes implemented at the city level and establishing institutional frameworks for their governance,” Matthew Bach, Regional Director for Europe at ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, said during the session titled “Building Nature-Positive Cities: Housing Resilience and a Sustainable Urban Future” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
He noted that ICLEI, Eurocities, the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, and other international networks contribute to achieving more effective results by acting as coordinating bridges between different levels of governance.
According to him, these cooperation platforms make it possible to develop frameworks tailored to the needs of cities and to strengthen multilateral dialogue and cooperation.
“Ultimately, we are all serving the same goal — the development of better cities to live in,” he noted.
