“One of the main directions of the reconstruction process in Palestine after the destruction is housing provision,” Palestinian Minister of Local Government Sami Hijjawi said during his speech at the event titled “Housing at the Center of Post-Crisis Recovery and Reconstruction” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
According to him, as a result of the conflict, hundreds of thousands of homes were completely destroyed or seriously damaged:
“Water, energy, education, and healthcare infrastructure have also suffered severe damage. The reconstruction process is not only about rebuilding structures, but also about ensuring people’s socio-economic stability and safe living conditions.”
Hijjawi added that planning in Palestine is being carried out in stages, and the main goal is to ensure the safe return of internally displaced people to their homes.
