The reconstruction experience of Karabakh can be considered a modern urban planning model for the member states of the Organization of Turkic States, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev said in a comment to journalists, APA reports.
“Yesterday, President Ilham Aliyev also noted in his speech what kind of work is being carried out in the liberated territories. We ourselves are witnessing this. Not only representatives of the Turkic world, but the entire world sees how rapidly these territories and our cities, including Shusha, Lachin and Khankendi, are being restored. Moreover, among the first participants in the reconstruction process were our member states — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Schools, cultural centers, mosques and other projects are being implemented there. Most importantly, Azerbaijan itself is investing heavily in those territories and making tremendous efforts. The figures themselves show how many people have already returned there. And this has happened in a very short period of time. Just imagine, for nearly three decades nothing was built there, there was no development at all. If those territories had not been destroyed, imagine the level of development they would have reached today. I think this should not only be an example, but a model to be demonstrated,” the secretary-general said.
He noted that the “smart city” concept is being implemented in every member state of the Organization of Turkic States.
“For example, today at the pavilions here, one can see Uzbekistan’s ‘New Tashkent’ project. In Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, new waste recycling plants and smart city projects are being presented. In addition, there are also joint projects. Therefore, all of this is already shaping a certain model,” he added.
