The amount of direct damage caused to Ukraine’s housing sector as a result of Russia’s war against Ukraine has exceeded 60 billion US dollars, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba said during the Leaders’ Session organized within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the funds required for the restoration of the housing stock are estimated at 88 billion US dollars.
“The damage caused to the housing sector exceeds 60 billion US dollars, while reconstruction needs amount to 88 billion US dollars,” Oleksii Kuleba noted.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated that the total damage caused to Ukraine’s infrastructure sectors exceeds 195 billion US dollars.
He emphasized that Ukraine is losing its people, housing stock, industrial assets, energy resources, and human capital in a full-scale war that has been going on for more than four years.
Oleksii Kuleba thanked the Government of Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat for organizing the forum. He once again greeted President Ilham Aliyev and Mehriban Aliyeva and extended his congratulations on the organization of WUF13.
