Holding the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Azerbaijan is another example of the country’s contribution to international organization, Azerbaijan’s Presidential Representative on Climate Issues Mukhtar Babayev said during the event titled “Early Warnings and Sustainable Cities” held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA reports.
He noted that the world is currently facing many geopolitical issues: “Climate change is also of great importance. According to the World Meteorological Organization, we are experiencing the hottest days. Cities are at the center of this climate change. These changes affect millions of people. We believe that a 24-hour early warning system prevents 30 percent of the impact. The number of droughts and extremely hot days has increased sixfold. Therefore, it is important to take climate change into account in urban planning.”
