Mine clearance rates in Aghdam, Khojavend and Fuzuli revealed

“Azerbaijan is carrying out very large-scale reconstruction works, and all countries see this," Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President in Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts, said at the event titled “From Urbicide to Revival: Sustainable Reconstruction, Resettlement and Development in Azerbaijan’s Liberated Territories” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

He stated that the revival of destroyed cities and villages is being witnessed in the example of Azerbaijan:

“Aghdam and Fuzuli had virtually been erased. Our main challenge was mines. These two regions were completely mined. Clearing these territories of mines was very important for us. Sixty percent of Aghdam, 15.9% of Khojavend district, and 77.28% of Fuzuli district have already been cleared of mines. In Aghdam, 37,385 mines and unexploded ordnance were detected, in Fuzuli 51,640, and in Khojavend 26,281.”

Emin Huseynov stated that the Great Return process is continuing at full speed: “Sixteen highways have already been built and put into operation, along with 10 substations, 5 water reservoirs and 4 main gas pipelines. In Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavend, a total of 3,468 families and 13,697 people are living. Already, 7,209 people live in the city of Aghdam and the villages of Kangarli, Khidirli, Sarijali and Kangarli, 3,172 people live in the city of Fuzuli, while 3,316 people live in the city of Khojavend, Sus, Khanoba, Girmizi Bazar and Hadrut.”
