Sustainable urban development, housing accessibility, and climate change are among the main issues at the center of modern media attention, Gabil Abbasoglu, chairman of the Media Development Center Public Union and Honored Journalist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said during the media briefing titled “Media as a Driver of Public Discourse on Housing and Urban Resilience” held within the framework of WUF13, APA-Economics reports.
He stated that the role of the media is not limited to providing information, but also serves to promote public responsibility and civic participation.
Gabil Abbasoglu noted that digital governance and sustainable infrastructure are among the key directions for the future development of cities. According to him, the “smart city” and “smart village” projects implemented in Karabakh and East Zangazur, as well as green energy initiatives and modern urban planning solutions, are important examples in this field.
He emphasized that the media plays an important role in promoting inclusive urban planning, green infrastructure, and sustainable development policies.
Gabil Abbasoglu added that strengthening cooperation among governments, the private sector, civil society, international organizations, and media institutions will contribute to the formation of sustainable communities and the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
