Inequalities inherited from colonialism continue to manifest themselves in the development levels of different regions today, Momo Marline Mylene, a representative from French Guiana and head of the media organization “Kwakproduction,” said this during the international conference titled “The Role of Youth in Urban Planning in the Decolonization Process,” organized by the Baku Initiative Group within the framework of WUF13.

“That is why it is important to find practical and real solutions. During the colonial era, borders and governance systems were designed in such a way that some regions were developed while others were marginalized and impoverished. For fair global development, it is necessary to recognize the rights of peoples, ensure that they have control over their own resources, and reduce the excessive influence of external powers,” she noted.
