Sports are a powerful tool that unites societies and contributes to the more sustainable development of cities, the former President of Costa Rica, member of the International Olympic Committee, and Permanent Observer to the UN Laura Chinchilla said in a video address presented during the special session titled “Cities as Playing Fields” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
The video address stated that sports are not only a physical activity, but also a universal language that brings people together, strengthens social solidarity, and contributes to greater inclusivity in cities.
Laura Chinchilla noted that in a period of growing global challenges, sports promote dialogue, bring communities closer together, and support the healthier and more sustainable development of cities.
