Despite measures taken within the framework of international agreements, historical sites are still under threat, Farid Jafarov, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said during the panel session titled “Sustainable and Empowering Cultural Revitalization” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
He stated that there is a serious need to preserve rich cultural heritage.
According to the deputy minister, the protection of cultural heritage is not only a cultural issue, but also an important obligation: “In this regard, the initiatives being implemented carry great responsibility.
Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, large-scale restoration programs are being implemented in the liberated territories. Cultural heritage monuments and other infrastructure facilities are being rebuilt, and life in the region is gradually being restored.”
He noted that restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories are continuing rapidly.
