In Ukraine’s city of Lviv, the strategies approved before the war no longer work. Because we are living under conditions of war and uncertainty. Therefore, we decided that we must determine priorities, Olena Pavlyuk, director of Ukraine’s “City Institute” analytical and strategic urban planning center, said during the event titled “Urban Transformation in Practice: Urban Experiences for Safe and Sustainable Communities” held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA reports.

She noted that there are currently seven main priorities for Lviv: “The first priority is the support of the local government for the Ukrainian army. We help as much as we can. Because the more equipment and technology we send to the front line, the more lives we save.”

According to her, the second priority is a “resilient ecosystem,” which relates to community support, rehabilitation, transformation and the integration of society. The third priority is resilience: “This mainly concerns the energy sector. Because our critical infrastructure is also under attack. The situation is very difficult. Sometimes there are only 4 hours of electricity a day. We live according to a special electricity supply schedule. Therefore, we must make serious changes regarding energy infrastructure. The next priorities are economic development, innovations, and new approaches in education and culture. Because people growing up in wartime conditions must be prepared for every situation in life. We need very strong international cooperation.”
