The 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku has been organized at the highest level and leaves a great impression, said Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Igor Sergeyenko, during a joint press statement with Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, APA reports.
“The entire process is being carried out in a highly organized, planned, precise, and engaging manner. Although different opinions, thoughts, and assessments are being voiced, the main topic and central line uniting all speakers is that the issue of housing and comfortable living conditions remains quite acute today. The world is now highly urbanized. Approximately 3.5 billion people — effectively every second person — live in cities. In many countries, the housing issue is extremely relevant. More than 1.1 billion people live in slums and unplanned residential areas lacking proper conditions. Most countries face problems related to the development of landscape zones, land improvement, recycling of resources, and other areas. All of this should be implemented with the aim of ensuring that people are provided with housing under comfortable conditions and at decent and affordable prices. Many heads of state representing different regions of the world also spoke about this,” Igor Sergeyenko noted.
