In recent years, Azerbaijan has become one of the main centers for international dialogue. As urbanization accelerates and serious challenges persist, the importance of sustainable approaches is increasing, Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and National Coordinator of WUF13, said during the presentation of the state standard “AZS ISO 20121:2026 Event Sustainability Management Systems” held in Baku, APA reports.
He noted that in the modern era, sustainability is no longer a choice, but a key condition for both economic and social development:
“In this regard, sustainability systems act as an important factor that positively impacts the economy and society. These standards are also closely linked to urban planning. A sustainable event management approach is considered one of the main directions of urban planning. Measures implemented within this framework help reduce paper use by 42% and energy waste by up to 60%.”
Anar Guliyev emphasized that the sustainability system creates long-term and continuous development models:
“All of this is of particular importance within the framework of WUF13, and the adopted standards serve to further strengthen commitments.”
