“Work has begun on the preparation of new topographic maps based on the World Geodetic Coordination System and G84 by the Geodesy and Choreography Agency,” said Lieutenant General Azer Aliyev, Chief of the Main Operations Department of the Ministry of Defense, at the 2nd Meeting of the Heads of Mapping Agencies of the Organization of Turkic States, APA reports.
He said that Azerbaijan has taken serious steps regarding the digital army concept:
“In this process, digital maps are one of the main issues. The creation of a geographic information system is a requirement of our time. Along with these geographic systems, the unification of the OTS’s work in this field is of great importance. The application of maps with unified standards is undeniable. This is one of the main directions related to the common interests of the OTS,” Azer Aliyev emphasized.
