A Leaders’ Summit will be organized for the first time within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), said Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture and national coordinator of WUF13 Anar Guliyev during a briefing dedicated to the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held within the framework of the 13th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.
According to him, the forum is being held during a period of rapid urbanization, and it is projected that by 2050 approximately 70 percent of the world’s population will live in cities.
Anar Guliyev stated that governments, cities, international organizations, civil society, academia, and representatives of the private sector will participate in the event. “This forum will be historic. For the first time, a Leaders’ Summit will be held within the framework of the World Urban Forum, where heads of state and government will discuss the development of cities as a strategic global priority.”
According to him, the event will include 40 main sessions, hundreds of partner events and a large “Urban Expo” exhibition.
Anar Guliyev added that around 15,000 participants from 169 countries have already registered for the forum, and Baku will become an important platform for global urban development dialogue.
