Aladdin Ibadov, who is recognized as a victim in the case involving some former employees of the recently-liquidated National Security Ministry of Azerbaijan, revealed some interesting details in his testimony during the preliminary investigation.
The victim said his friend, whose name he doesn’t not remember, told him in December 2014 that Natig Aliyev, an employee of the National Security Ministry, wanted to meet with him. They met outside the former hospital “Semashko”. Natig Aliyev, accompanied by four more employees of the ministry, invited him to Sultan café located near the ministry’s administrative building.
After introducing himself as a department head at the ministry, Natig Aliyev said he had information about the turnover of his business, the names of persons with whom he was trading and meeting. Then, department head Fizuli Aliyev came to the café and said he should ‘put money in the cashbox’ and left.
Natig Aliyev demanded 200,000 manats from him and said ‘they wouldn’t let him work if he refuses to give this money’. In turn, Aladdin Ibadov said he didn’t have such amount of money and could give only 50,000 manats. Natig Aliyev didn’t agree with him saying that he couldn’t say this amount to the ministry’s leadership, as the amount should be at least 100,000 manats.
Ibadov agreed and gave 100,000 manats to Fizuli Aliyev and Natig Aliyev in the same café on December 16, 2014 at about 14:00 PM. Then, Natig Aliyev said ‘he would check his trade turnover and annual income, and get 2 percent of that amount’. Ibadov said in this case he would suspend his business activity.
