According to the State Statistical Committee, the population mainly increased through natural increase. Along with this, migration increase was also observed and accounted for 1.8% of the total increase.
Density of population across the country is 109 persons in every 1m². 53.2% of total population are in cities, 46.8% in villages. At the same time, 49.7% are men, 50.3% - women and there are 1,012 women for every 1,000 men.
The birth rate exceeded the death rate by 118,300. So, in 2013, 172,600 babies were born. 53.6% of them are boys, 46.4% - girls. 2,270 of the babies are twins, 42 – triplets.
On average, every woman capable of giving birth bears 2.2 children per year.
The death rate fell in the country last year, from 6 to 5.8 per 1,000 people.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Migration Service registered 3,100 persons, who came to Azerbaijan for permanent residence and 800 persons, who left Azerbaijan. The number of migrants rose by 957 persons or 44.1% compared to a year earlier.
