The Qafqaz University in Baku will be renamed in the near future over the dissatisfaction of Turkish students, the university rector, Havar Mammadov, told APA.
There are some problems with Turkish universities because of the name of the university, the rector said, noting that students are regularly appealing to the rectorate for renaming the university.
He added that the relevant bodies of both Azerbaijan and Turkey have already been informed of the concerns of Turkish students.
“Three Turkish students wanted to leave the Qafqaz University and continue their education in Turkey, but they were not admitted. Thus, they returned to Azerbaijan again,” said the rector.
Ninety-five Turkish students are currently studying at the Qafqaz University, he said, stressing that 10 of them expressed the concerns of their families in this regard.
The rector added that student exchange, staff training, certain scholarships suspended were suspended between the Qafqaz University and Turkish universities.
