A new human organ, the mesentery, has been classified by scientists.
A 2012 study conducted by Irish Professor Calvin Coffey discovered that this organ is far from fragmented and complex. It is simply one continuous structure. With this latest discovery, the number of organs in the human body has reached 79, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) said in a statement on Thursday.
What exactly the mesentery’s function is still remains a question. Nevertheless, scientists’ anatomic description that had been laid down over 100 years of anatomy was incorrect.
