Baku. Shahriyar Alizade – APA. The Baku Court of Appeal has concluded the trial of the Shamil and Sahil Shamilov brothers, both accused of deliberate murder and attempted murder.
The court altered the verdict concerning them. Articles 120 (deliberate murder) and 29, 120 (attempted deliberate murder) under which they were charged were altered with articles 307.1 (not informing about crime) and 307.3 (concealment of especially grave crime). As they have already served the sentence prescribed in the last two articles, the brothers were released in the courtroom.
On July 1, 2013, the Baku Court of Grave Crimes concluded the trial of the persons accused of killing Aflatun Piriyev, head of Azer-Ross construction company, and wounding chief accountant Amiraslan Ahmadov. Humbat Mammadov and Vusal Gurbanov were sentenced to life in prison, Tofiq Bakirov to 14 years, Farman Hajiyev to 14 years and six months, and the Sahil and Shamil Shamilov brothers each to 12 years and six months.
