Azerbaijan to issue perpetual licenses to TV and radio broadcasters, Togrul Mamamdov, an official of the National Television and Radio Council (NTRC), told APA on Friday.
According to Paragraph 5.1 of Azerbaijani president’s decree “On some measures in the field of licensing”, dated 21 December 2015, all the existing licenses will have an unlimited term of validity after the decree enters into force.
The rule on giving NTRC the power of issuing a license to TV and radio broadcasters has come into force as President Ilham Aliyev signed the decree in this regard.
According to the decree, broadcasts that require license (TV and radio broadcasting activities, republic television broadcasting, television broadcasting in Baku, the regional television broadcasting, republic radio broadcasting, radio broadcasting in Baku regional radio broadcasting, additional information broadcasting, cable broadcasting with up to 5,000 subscribers, cable broadcasting with more than 5,000 subscribers, satellite broadcasting, broadcasting with decoded devices by foreign TV and radio channels ) will be carried out by the NTRC.
