Over the past year, the Anti-Corruption Department under the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General has concluded the investigation into 201 criminal cases involving 313 officials from public and private sectors and submitted case materials to court for consideration.
The statement was made during a meeting held Friday at the Prosecutor General’s Office.
As a result, the payment of 31,752,000 manats was ensured of the total damage amounting to 202,430,000 manats and property worth 78,283,000 manats was put arrest on.
Of the 178 murders uncovered in joint investigative operations by Azerbaijan’s Interior Ministry and State Security Service during the reporting period, 172 incidents (96.6%), as well as 64 crimes committed under unknown circumstances, were disclosed.
It was noted that the number of murders has dwindled by 25 incidents and that of uncovered ones by three times.
In addition, the investigation into the criminal cases involving senior officials of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies, who was arrested on charges of embezzlement of state property and other illegal activities, was completed and criminal cases of 11 officials were sent to courts for consideration.
As a result, the payment of 18,778,000 manats was ensured of the total damage and property worth 66,985,000 manats was put arrest on.
Prosecutor General’s Office’s investigation department on grave crimes professionally conducted the investigation of several criminal cases caused great public outcry. The department also completed the investigation of criminal cases on illegal acts of radical religious extremist forces, senior officials of liquidated Ministry of National Security and others, and appropriately sent them to courts.
