An artifact attributed to the fourth Rashidun Caliph Ali ibn Abi Talib has been stolen from “Ali’s stone” (Æli Daşı) sanctuary situated in Azerbaijan’s Yanardagh state historical-cultural and natural reserve, Vuqar Shikhammadov, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, told APA on August 30.
According to information, the incident took place on the night of August 26-27.
Law enforcement agencies are investigating the fact.
The Yanardagh area was declared state historical-cultural and natural reserve by the order of President Ilham Aliyev on May 2, 2007.
