Baku. Konul Kamilqizi – APA. Nearly 48,000 children will enter first grade in Baku in the 2016-17 academic year.
On the order of the minister of education, online admission of children into first grade began on 1 March of this year, the Ministry of Education told APA.
45,742 parents have placed online requests on mektebeqebul.edu.az for a seat in schools, lyceums, and gymnasiums for their children, 42,892 of them opting for general education schools and 2,850 for lyceums and gymnasiums.
4,836 of them are under six. Among the children, there are some who are not at school age and others who are late to apply. The parents of 89 children above eight years of age have placed a request on mektebeqebul.edu.az.
The process of admission into first grade will come to a close on Sept.15. Parents who are late to register their children will have to submit an application to the Baku City Education Office by October 15.
