The World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday appealed for $1.5 billion in funding to respond to the health needs of more than 87 million people caught up in dozens of humanitarian crises around the globe, APA reports citing Reuters.
"For those facing emergencies, disruptions to essential health services often mean the difference between life and death," said WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Tedros said an estimated 166 million people would require health assistance around the world this year, including in the occupied Palestinian territories, Ukraine, Haiti and Sudan.
