Additional grain silos with a total capacity of 150,000 tons are planned to be established in Azerbaijan to expand the country's grain storage infrastructure, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilhama Gadimova stated at a regional meeting for the Mountainous Shirvan economic region held in Ismayilli within the framework of the “State Program on the Development of Production and Processing Sectors of Agricultural, Fisheries and Aquaculture Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030,” APA-Economics reports.

According to her, the State Program envisages the preparation and implementation of support mechanisms for the construction of an additional 150,000 tons of grain silos. Within this framework, a 40% discount on equipment costs and interest rate subsidies covering 40–50% of loan rates will be applied.

Gadimova noted that alongside increasing production, proper storage and marketing of products are also important issues. She said that limited storage capacity forces farmers to sell their products immediately and often at lower prices, which negatively affects their incomes.

The ministry official added that the establishment of grain silos will help reduce product losses, improve storage conditions, and strengthen food security.
