Tajikistan delegation visits Azerbaijan to study penitentiary and probation systems -PHOTO

A delegation from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan and other state agencies visited Azerbaijan to study the country's experience in the field of penitentiary institutions and probation, the Ministry of Justice told APA.

It was reported that the delegation, led by Voris Gozizoda, Deputy Head of the Main Department for the Execution of Criminal Punishments of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan, visited the Alley of Honor, the Alley of Martyrs, and the Victory Park.

Later, the delegation met with the Deputy Minister of Justice - Head of the Penitentiary Service, Mirsaleh Seyidov.

The meeting discussed cooperation between the agencies, legislation in the penitentiary sector, ensuring the rights and freedoms of convicted and arrested persons, and exchanged views on the renewal of infrastructure, construction of penitentiary institutions that meet modern standards and other issues of interest.

During the visit, the guests got acquainted with the activities of the Baku Pre-trial Detention Center, Prison No. 4, Juvenile Penitentiary Institution, and Umbakı Penitentiary Institution.

The meeting with the Tajik delegation held at the Probation Service of the Ministry of Justice was attended by the head of the service, Vugar Aghayev, responsible employees of the service, as well as representatives of the Baku City Probation Department.

The meeting provided detailed information on the institutional and legal reforms implemented in our country in recent years to develop the probation system, social and psychological rehabilitation measures carried out with persons under probation supervision, as well as the application of digital management mechanisms. The guests were shown presentations on the application of electronic control tools and innovative management platforms.

During the event, the prospects for expanding cooperation between the judicial authorities of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, mutual exchange of experience, and implementation of future joint projects were discussed.

The Tajik delegation highly appreciated the establishment of penitentiary and probation systems in our country based on modern approaches, the measures taken towards the social rehabilitation of prisoners, as well as the application of digital technologies, and noted the importance of studying the experience gained in these areas within the framework of bilateral cooperation.
