In the Karabakh region, particularly in the city of Stepanakert (Khankendi), which is renowned for its wealth of cultural and historical monuments, all mosques, shrines, cemeteries, museums, and other monuments related to Islamic culture were destroyed during the occupation, and not a trace of them remains today. This is an act of aggression not only against the Azerbaijani people but against human civilization as a whole, said Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi, and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts Elchin Yusubov, during an event held at Karabakh University in Khankendi as part of the "Week of Spiritual Values," APA reports.

E. Yusubov also pointed out that during the occupation period, Armenians not only falsified Islamic monuments but also Christian temples belonging to Caucasian Albania, trying to present them as Armenian monuments.

It was noted that one of such monuments was the Ganjasar temple located in the village of Vangli in the Agdere district: "This Albanian monastery dating back to the 13th century served as the religious center of the Caucasian Albania Catholicosate until the 19th century. During the occupation period, the architectural structure, interior, and inscriptions of the monument were altered by Armenians, and the Albanian inscriptions were erased. The goal was to falsify history. Today, in the territories liberated from occupation, mosques, cultural centers, and churches are being restored."
