The 3rd Azerbaijan National Urban Planning Forum (NUFA3) held in the city of Khankendi continued its work today with panel sessions, APA reports.

On the second day of the forum, discussions were held on the most pressing issues of modern urban planning, from urban and rural relations to housing policy, from innovative urban solutions to inclusion.

The first panel session of the day was held on the topic of "Urban-rural relations for socio-economic growth, territorial equality and environmental sustainability." The discussions touched upon issues such as the role of national urban planning policies in the equitable development of territories and the planning of sustainable and accessible communities in mountainous areas.

The Forum then continued its work with a panel titled "Housing accessibility at the heart of a just urban future." At this session, views were exchanged on innovative financing models for providing the population with quality housing, public-private partnerships, as well as effective land and housing policies that reduce territorial inequality.

Another important discussion of the day was dedicated to the topic “The Interconnection of Mobility, Data and Spatial Planning: Innovative Urban Solutions”. This session focused on the national alignment of sustainable mobility and urban planning, transit-oriented development and the revolutionary changes brought about by new data sources in urban planning.

The Forum participants also actively participated in the panels on “Healthier Cities through Design: Reshaping Urban Spaces for People’s Well-being” and “Ensuring Urban Accessibility and Inclusion for All”. These sessions discussed important issues such as urban safety as a prerequisite for well-being, the potential role of universities in the development of regional ecosystems, maintaining social inclusion during rapid urban expansion, and taking into account the needs of women, youth and children in cities.

The Forum will continue its work with the final panel sessions to be held in the capital on October 17. The next panel sessions can also be watched live on the Forum’s YouTube channel.
