Head of department: Population in Shusha expected to grow gradually -PHOTO

Construction and development activities continue in the city of Shusha, which has been liberated from occupation. New residential buildings are being constructed to ensure the return of former internally displaced persons to their native homeland. In parallel, the restoration of historical and cultural heritage and the implementation of infrastructure projects are being carried out. All works are being conducted in accordance with Shusha’s distinctive architectural style, Rza Abdullayev, Head of the Department for Area Development and Public Transport Management of the Shusha City State Reserve Administration, told APA.

It was noted that the first residential complex in the city of Shusha was commissioned in 2024. The residential complex put into operation consists of a total of 23 buildings. At present, life in the city is gradually reviving: vehicle traffic is observed on the streets, lights are on in residential buildings, and residents are returning to their daily rhythm of life.

According to the information, at the current stage, the city’s population is expected to increase gradually. For this purpose, the construction of new residential quarters is ongoing. Thus, the construction of multi-apartment buildings is being carried out in the D3 and D4 residential quarters.

In the D3 residential quarter, the construction of a total of 17 multi-apartment buildings is envisaged. In the first phase, the construction of 10 buildings is underway. In the second phase, it is planned to begin the construction of an additional 7 buildings after the completion of relevant preparatory works. Buildings in the D3 residential quarter will be 5- and 6-storey structures. Currently, in both the D3 and D4 residential quarters, the installation of reinforced concrete structures of the buildings is being carried out rapidly and with high quality.

Each residential building will be equipped with an elevator and an underground parking facility. According to the project, the buildings are designed in line with the architectural style of the city of Shusha. The area will include children’s playgrounds, green zones, and the creation of artificial lakes for the collection of rainwater.

In addition, after the D3 and D4 residential quarters, a land plot of 6.2 hectares has been allocated for the construction of the D5 residential quarter. In the allocated area, the construction of 16 buildings with a total of 274 apartments has been designed. The apartments will have 2, 3, 4, and 5 rooms. It is planned to begin the implementation of the project after the completion of the relevant documentation and preparatory works.
