ONA presents the photos of the new train that will run on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, one of the grandiose projects in the independence history of Azerbaijan.
The railway was commissioned on October 30, 2017, with a solemn ceremony at the Baku International Sea Trade Port.
A passenger train, consisting of 10 cars produced by Switzerland’s Stadler Rail Group under an order from Azerbaijan Railways CJSC for BTK, arrived in Baku on March 29 passing through Turkey and Georgia. On April 3, President Ilham Aliyev inspected the train.
The train includes nine passenger cars and one restaurant car. The cars were produced in four categories – standard, comfort, business, and restaurant.
The train can run at a speed of 160 km/h. The cars are equipped with air suspension, which helps stabilize them on turns.
Also, each car has a diesel generator, which provides uninterrupted electricity for 24 hours if there is no electricity in the locomotive.
